First and only edition of this important monograph. 2 leaves; xx, 356 pp. Covers the intrigues which began in 1525, when Charles V captured Francois I after winning the battle of Pavia. Beautifully printed by Crapelet on good laid paper. 8vo. Attractively bound in contemporary calf, spine gilt, covers elaborately decorated in gilt and blind. All edges marbled. Light wear to binding and minor sunning to spine, some internal spotting. Still a very good copy of a very scarce book.
