The personal physician to the landgraves of Hesse-Homburg and Hesse-Nassau was known for recommending visceral enemas against various conditions, including melancholy and hypochondria. He deals with complaints based in the abdomen, an immensely popular topic at the time. The present title was first issued in 1784 and saw various editions.
