Engraved portrait frontispiece and illustrations throughout. 8vo, original publisher’s light brown cloth lettered and decorated in gilt and with black pictorial embellishments on the spine and upper cover . 478 pp. A handsome Victorian binding with some mild rubbing to the extremities, the paper mellowed as is usual with the paper stock used by the publisher.
Edizione: a biography written about the life of this president. thayer also wrote a biography of abraham lincoln entitled “the pioneer boy” and found many similarities between the two great men. both started their lives in log cabins built by their fathers, and both died in the presidential office by the assassin’s shot. a work intended to inspire its audience with the noble achievements of james garfield.
