Paris, Academie des Sciences, 1853. 4to (28.1 x 22.6 cm). 195 pp.; nine engraved plates (on six sheets, of which two partly coloured and two larger, folded). Later half cloth over marbled boards. = An important contribution with fine, detailed illustrations by the French naturalist Georges Louis Duvernoy (1777-1855). It deals with cephalopods (three plate sheets), and with arthropods (three plate sheets, including one on scorpions and two on crustaceans). Published in the academy's Mémoires, volume 23. Uncut, with very wide margins. Occasional very light, marginal spotting, otherwise clean, unmarked. A very good copy. Bound copies are seldom seen.
