Patterned endpapers. Original printed wrappers bound in = With descriptions, illustrations, keys to the species, and distribution notes. The author mainly published on tropical botany, but also a good deal on algae. Inscribed and signed by the author on the half-title, "À Monsieur le Prof Van Bambeke". this is most likely the Belgian medical doctor Charles van Bambeke (1829-1918). He co-founded, with the famous zoologist and palaeontologist Van Beneden, the Archives Biologie, the leading biological journal in Belgium. A very good, well-bound copy. Not in Stafleu and Cowan.
