Contemporary half cloth over marbled boards. Gilt-lettered morocco label on the spine. = Important and rare monograph on a group of red algae of the Mediterranean Sea. The title quoted above is that of the series; the second title, for this monogreaph as a "stand alone" publication, is Die Bangiaceen des Golfes von Neapel und der angrenzenden Meeres-Abschnitte. Eine Monographie. Author is the German botanist - principally phycologist - Gottfried Berthold (1854-1937). Light wear to the boards, with slight paper loss; Wrappers not preserved. Otherwise a very good, clean copy. Quite rare, especially when bound. Neither in Nissen BBI, nor in Stafleu and Cowan.
