Paris, Roret, 1839. 8vo. 163 pp.; three lithographed plates. Later red cloth with title on the spine and front board; in transparet sleeve. Original printed wrappers bound in. = A seldom-seen bound copy of an illustrated monograph, in three parts, of European small mammals, providing for each a description, dimensions, distribution, synonymies, etc. It deals with shrews, rats, and voles. The plates show skulls. Provenance: with two different pictorial (mammalogical) bookplates of F. N. van den Brink. He may have been responsible for the unusial cloth binding. Uncut. Lower half of plates damp stained. text leaves not affected and otherwise very good. Not in Nissen.
