Later quarter black cloth over marbled boards. Spine with gilt title. = A seldom-seen work on South American landsnails by the French malacologist Alfred Louis Pierre Germain (1878-1942), who used his second given name only. Contains fine illustrations (the lithographs drawn by the author) and several new species, in particular many veronicellids. Published in Mission du Service Géographique de l’Armée pour la mésure d’un arc de méridien équatorial en Amérique du Sud sous le contrôle scientifique de l’Académie des Sciences, 1899-1906. 9(3) Zoologie, Mollusques-Annélides-Oligochètes. Uncut. Inscribed by the author, viz., a dedication to his colleague and friend and fellow malacologist Joseph Guérin-Ganivet, with the small, oval stamp of the latter, and with a stamp of the American malacologist Richard Irwin Johnson (1925-2020).
