Nancy, C. J. Hissette, 1829. 8vo (20.8 x 12.8 cm). 92 pp., five engraved plates (one larger, folded). Contemporary red paper covered boards. Gilt lines and small red morocco label with gilt title on the spine. = Rare monograph on hawkweeds (Asteraceae) and related taxa, e.g. the genus Soyeria, introduced here by the French botanist Auguste Monnier (1800-1864). With descriptions of species from all parts of the world and instructive plates, the large, folded one being an attempt to a phylogeny of the group. Monnier's collection is preserved in the botanical gardens of Nancy. Spine and part of the boards sunned, some scattered foxing, but mainly on the first and last pages, and mostly maginal. Otherwise a good, unmarked copy. Stafleu and Cowan, 6227.
