Descrizione
Paris, Panckoucke, 1785-1791. Four volumes in four. 4to (25.5 x 20.2 cm). Four titles to the Encyclopédie, four titles with wood-engraved vignette, to the Logique volumes; 3097 pp. [xvi, 752; 336, 439; 730; 824]. Uniform contemporary mottled half calf (corners vellum) over marbled boards. Spines with five raised, gilt-bordered bands; compartments with gilt snowflake vignettes and red and black morocco labels with double-gilt borders and title. Edges speckled red. = A rare part of the Ultimate Encyclopaedia and the largest of all great Encyclopaedias and the most important work published during the French Enlightement. This section - complete in itself - written by the French lawyer, politician and writer, Pierre Louis de Lacretelle (1751-1824). The first two volumes were titled Logique et Métaphysique, whereas in the last two, the word Morale was added. Last page of the fourth volume misnumbered 280. Some wear to the spines and board edges; light, inobtrusive staining and rubbing to several boards, in the last volume some worming in the spine and gutter, up to about page 60, and in a few leaves just into the a few letters, otherwise, a very good, clean and complete set.
