Spine withfour raised bands, compartments with gilt floral vignettes and title. Marbled endpapers. = A very nicely bound copy of this useful work. This is the original, not the later reprint. Herpetology covers pages 256-310, and includes detailed, comparative drawings of the heads of the snakes Tropidonotus vulgaris and Periops hippocrepis, and of the lizards Lacerta ocellata and L. vivipara. Some light rubbing to board edges, otherwise a very good copy of a work usually found in more simple bindings or in wrappers only.
