Original blue, printed wrappers. = The fine, handcoloured frontispiece shows a profile of the earth's upper crust with the various types of minerals and sediments. The work, by the German geologist Carl Bernhard von Cotta (1808-1879), usually simply known as Bernhard Cotta, deals with coal bearing layers, and how and where to find them. Ten pp. publisher's catalogue, and 4 pp. publisher's prospectus bound in rear. Vague blindstamp on front wrapper, front hinge partly detached, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
