Berlin, G. Reimer, 1849. 4to (34.0 x 25.1 cm). 71 pp.; four fine lithographed plates. Original quarter cloth over printed boards. = Important work in which the author considered the labyrinthodonts (now regarded as Temnospondyli) as intermediate between amphibians and reptiles. Trematosaurus, here introduced as a new genus, is rather crocodile-like although not closely related. Some foxing to plates and upper outer margin of the text, spine cover with some wear, otherwise a very good copy. Cat. BM(NH) p. 290; Zittel, Geschichte, p. 827.
