Speckled edges. = An important, well-illustrated monograph on dodders, parasitic plants that are now under threat because of habitat loss. "During medieval times, dodder was often used as a medicinal cure in treating depression, but causes thirst and dryness of the mouth when consumed" (Wikipedia). Ludwig Koch's own, well-maintained, copy, with his small stamp in the top margin of the title page. Ludwig Konrad Albert Koch (1850-1938) was a German botanist, also known for his series titled Die mikroskopische Analyse der Drogenpulver.
