Leipzig, E. Eisenach, 1840. Large 8vo (26.2 x 17.0 cm). 160 pp., 60 lithographed plates with 382 figures. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards, with gilt-titled red morocco label and gilt ornaments on spine, marbled flyleaves. All edges red. = Most plates show different species of fish, but some show fishing methods and the fishing industry of the period. This is the uncoloured edition. Spine and boards much rubbed with paper-loss. Most plates are rather foxed. Tiny book-dealer stamp ("Gerschel's Antiquariat Stuttgart") on front free endpaper. Rare.
