Freiberg, I. G. Engelhardt, 1833. 8vo (20.8 x 12.3 cm). viii, 216 pp., two folded lithographed plates. Contemporary marbled boards. Spine with green leather label with gilt title. Edges red. = The rare first edition. The plates show the equipment for the amalgamization process. The German metallurgist Kurt Alexander Winkler (1794-1862) was "Assessor beim Königl. Sächsischen Oberhüttenamtes", and, for a couple of years, assistant of Berzelius in Stockholm. A second edition of this work was published in 1848. Some rather vague damp-staining to the fore-edge margin, more expanded but vague on the last text pages, much stronger on the first folded plates. In all still acceptable, complete, and nicely bound copy. Poggendorff II, 1338.
