Leipzig, Anold, 1850. 4to (26.3 x 22.3 cm). xii, 89 pp.; 20 lithographed plates (numbered A, B, I-XVIII) of which one hand-coloured. Original printed boards. = Second edition (apparently a title edition), of the first work published by the famous palaeontologist and geologist Carl Bernhard von Cotta (1808-1879), which was first published in 1832. It deals with fossil plant material and includes illustrations and descriptions of new species. Spine with some old repairs, top chipped; small, old label on spine foot and front board lower margin; some scattered foxing, otherwise a very good copy. Nissen BBI, 417; Zittel, 781.
