About the Book:-Through this Dictionary we will easily recognize and fill in the gap left by our Latin - French - Tamil and our French Vocabulary. The original words Grandonic to the asterisk preceding them. When a term, what that of Sanskrit origin, comes from another expression of this language already used in Tamil, we put in brackets the word Tamoul, from which it is derived. Otherwise, we put the word Sanskrit in Roman characters; and if its meaning is other than that of Tamil, which derives from it, the meaning of Sanskrit is also put in the parenthesis in italic letters. While getting our first goal, we would also be happy, if we could, by this work, make ourselves useful to this colony, where the study of French and Tamil took, for some years, thanks to the encouragement of the Government. To make it more profitable for everyone, we have reunited, in their alphabetical order, the greatest number of words vulgar Tamil and poetic Tamil, that we could. These two idioms of the same language, we would almost say these two languages, although quite distinct as a whole, have no demarcations absolute enough, clear enough so that we can separate in a Dictionary, without leaving frequently in the embarrassment of those who study one or the other.
