Original bdg. Dust wrapper. Folio. (33 x 28 cm). In English. 510 p., color ills. Dance of fire: Iznik tiles and ceramics in the Sadberk Hanim Museum and Ömer M. Koç Collections. Catalogue of 327 Iznik vessels and tiles from the Sadberk Hanim Museum and Ömer Koç Collections. "This exhibition, which is the first event on the museum's 2009 calendar, is designed to illustrate the chronological development if Iznik tiles and ceramics through the pieces in both collections. The Iznik ware in the exhibition comprises wall tiles and a wide range of vessels reflecting the socioeconomic status and tastes of their users produced at the Iznik potteries between the 15th and 17th centuries. Both tiles and vessels clearly illustrate the inexhaustible creativity of the artists, their richly vaired repertoire of decorative compositions, masterful use of colour, and constant search for technical innovation.".
