Origunal printed wrappers. = A rare offprint from Charles d'Orbigny's Dictionnaire universel d'Histoire naturelle. It deals with the higher systematics of the articulate versus the inarticulate animals, comparing - in both groups - Animaux apatiques,sensibles and intelligents; the latter only occurring withinin the Articulata (i.e. Vertebrata). Signed by the author in the top margin of the front wrapper, apparently to a Mr Lemercier. Uncut. Edges a bit creased, paper slightly toned, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
