Madrid, Instituto Geológico y Minero de España, 1933. Large 8vo (24.0 x 16.6 cm). 299 pp. [numbered 465-763]; 35 plates with explanatory text leaves. Original printed wrappers. = A very rare, little known, but excellent monograph by Florentino Azpeitia Moros (1859-1934). Five volumes were projected. However, after the first, dealing with Unio, and Margaritana, only one more volume was published, dealing with Anadonta, Pisidium, Sphaerium, and Dreissenia. We did have volume I before and then erroneously assumed that, due to the untimely death of the author, that is all that was published. Original descriptions are included in full, as are notes on recent distribution, variability, etc. Wrappers soiled, frayed at hinges. Internally a very good, clean copy.
