Near contemporary olive cloth with gilt title on the spine. Yellow endpapers. Speckled edges. printed errata sheet bound in. = An important study of planktonic organisms of the Bay of Biscay, edited and partly (co)authored by the British zoologist George Herbert Fowler (1861-1940). Several parts are by other specialists. This work was published over a long time in the Society's Transactions, but pagination is continuous. Deals with, e.g., the Amphipoda, Chaetognatha, Cephalopoda (by William Hoyle); other Mollusca (in French, written by Paul Pelseneer), Decapoda, Medusa, Ostracoda (by Fowler himself), Fishes (by Holt and Byrne) , with the inclusion of several new genera and species, for instance in Amphipoda. A short, later published 13th part on Siphonophora is not included. First front wrapper (dated 1904) bound in. Inner joints neatly reinforced with linen. A very good, clean and unmarked copy.
