London, the author, ca. 1835. Folio (37,3 x 27,1 cm). Well-preserved original hand-painted engraving of a bird in its natural surroundings. = From the first folio edition of Henry Leonard Meyer's Illustrations of British Birds (published between 1835 and 1841). Meyer (1797-1865) was a British ornithologist and bird illustrator of Dutch descent. His wife and daughters were responsible for the fine colouring of the plates. This print is in excellent condition. Some very faint spotting. No creases, dents or tears present.
