A UNIQUE COLLECTION, bound in one volume, OF TWENTY-TWO MONOGRAPHS AND PAMPHLETS RELATING TO VALENCIENNES AND ITS MOST CELEBRATED NATIVES SINCE THE MIDDLE AGES. This collection was assembled by Edouard Grar, President of the Société Impériale d'Agriculture, Sciences et Arts de l'arondissement de Valenciennes. Many of the individual works are inscribed to him, several have added autograph letters (by the authors of the works and even by the deceased subjects!), other manuscript material, and engravings. Includes substantial material concerning Paulin Paris' and Kervyn de Lettenhove's debate on Froissart. Large 8vo. Beautifully bound in recent quarter vellum and marbled boards. Original wraps of almost all items bound in. A few little tears, else FINE AND BRIGHT. I have been unable to locate even a single copy of many of the individual works in institutional collections. UNIQUE, and fascinating for anyone interested in Valenciennes or Hainaut.
