Weimar, Industrie-Comptoir, ca. 1800. Hand-coloured engraved plate from Bilderbuch für Kinder. Framed with the descriptions in German (recto) and French (verso) pasted on board. A fine clean copy. = Part of the herpetological section, Amphibien, of the famous Bilderbuch edited and published by Friedrich Johann Justin Bertuch (1747-1822), with finely engraved and hand-coloured plates. The plate shows five lizards. It is peculiar to see that the name of the engraver is in mirror image. With bright, natural colouring. A clean copy.
