Weimar, Industrie-Comptoir, ca. 1800. Hand-coloured engraved plate from Bilderbuch für Kinder (31.0 x 23.0 cm). Framed (frame size 34.0 x 26.0 cm) with the descriptions in German pasted on board. = Part of the herpetological section, Amphibien, of the famous Bilderbuch edited and published by Friedrich Johann Justin Bertuch (1747-1822). The plate shows five snake-like lizards (i.e. with small or rudimentary limbs). With simple but natural colouring. Paper in one place a bit uneven. German text mounted, French text (verso) not fully readable. A clean copy.
