Large 4to (30.0 x 23.0 cm). xxix, 329 pp.; three large, folded, hand-coloured profiles, and one very large, folded, hand-coloured geological map in rear pocket. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards. Marbled endpapers, marbled edges. = Rare early contribution to the geology of northern Argentina and adjacent Chile, written by the German geologist Alfred Wilhelm Stelzner (1840-1895). The title page is double, viz. one for the work, and one for the series, "Beiträge zur Geologie und Palaeontologie der argentinischen Republik auf Anordnung der argentinischen National-Regierung herausgegeben von Dr. Alfred Stelzner", and dated 1876-1885. Perhaps this is all that was published. Boards rubbed, spine cover missing, old library stamp on first blank and series-title verso, otherwise very good, with the text and the fine, hand-coloured maps and profiles clean.
