Large 4to (30.9 x 23.2 cm). xxix, 329 pp., three large, folded, hand-coloured profiles, and one very large, folded, hand-coloured geological map in rear pocket. Contemporary pebbled half calf over marbled boards. Patterned endpapers. = Rare early contribution to the geology of northern Argentina and adjacent Chile. The title page is double, viz. one for the work, and one for the series, "Beiträge zur Geologie und Palaeontologie der argentinischen Republik auf Anordnung der argentinischen National-Regierung herausgegeben von Dr. Alfred Stelzner", and dated 1876-1885. Perhaps this is all that was published. Old library stamp on title to the work, plate versos, and a text page margin, scattered light foxing throughout, otherwise good.
