AN OUTSTANDING UNPUBLISHED AUTOGRAPH LETTER FROM SIMONE DE BEAUVOIR TO LUC ESTANG, in which she discusses her admiration for his novel ("L'Interrogatoire") and Butor's "La Modification", both published in 1957, the latter having just won the prestigious Prix Renaudot. Two pages (front and back of a single leaf), neatly written in blue ink. SIGNED IN FULL BY SIMONE DE BEAUVOIR. The letter itself is undated, but the original envelope (included) is postmarked December 17, 1957. A touch of darkening along folds, else FINE AND BRIGHT. A unique glimpse into the French literary scene of the 1950s.
