First edition of this first monography on Ottoman galleys published by Institute of Shipyard of the Istanbul Technical University, as the fifth book of the series. Ata Nutku graduated from the Naval Academy's Naval Architecture Department in 1923. In the early years of the Republic of Turkey, he played a pivotal role in advancing shipbuilding both in the country and at Istanbul Technical University. His efforts were instrumental in the design and construction of the first ship built in Turkey.
