Descrizione
An outstanding signed autograph letter from celebrated painter Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780-1867) to Jean-Jacques Berger (1790-1859), prefect of the Seine, in which Ingres recommends the services of his notable student, Pierre-Auguste Pichon (1805-1900), who would go on to become rather well known. About a hundred words written neatly in brown ink on fine wove writing paper. Signed by Ingres and dated April 2, 1851. Ingres and Pichon had collaborated on the famous portrait of Ferdinand-Philippe, the Duke of Orléans in the Château de Fontainebleau. Pichon would go on to decorate many French public buildings, both civil and religious, with his paintings. With the red stamp denoting reception by the prefecture. AN IMPORTANT LETTER IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.
