London, Longmans, Green, and Co., 1877. Folio. Four pp.; 12 double-sized maps and two unnumbered page-sized maps. Publisher's full, embossed cloth with gilt title on the front board. Bevelled edges. = Although published in 1877, the maps (drawn by the author) shows the skies as if they would appear to an observer in 1880. Richard Anthony Proctor (1837-1888) was a British astronomer "best remembered for having produced one of the earliest maps of Mars. . The crater Proctor on Mars is named after him" (Wikipedia). Inscribed on the front free endpaper recto (dated March 17, 1924). Boards a bit worn, more so at the edges. Otherwise a very good, clean copy.
