Gilt title on the spine. = Rare first edition published in the Library of illustrated standard scientific works series. With four illustrated leaves of Bailliere scientific publications. Inscribed and dated by two former private owners on the front pastedown and front free endpaper. Rebacked, with much of the original spine cover. Most plates foxed in the margins. Otherwise very good.
