London, Ray Society, 1848. 4to (29.5 x 23.5 cm). 104 pp., 13 partly hand-coloured lithographed plates. Later black quarter cloth over pebbled boards. Gilt title on the spine. = A well-illustrated monograph by the Manx marine biologist, zoologist, malacologist, and illustrator Edward Forbes (1815-1854). The fine, delicately coloured figures are by the author. Many species were described and illustrated here for the first time. Title page stamps cleaned, otherwise a very good copy with spotless text and plates. Nissen ZBI, 1405.
