Illustrated with 5 black and white plates by Lucius Hitchcock. 8vo, publisher’s original red cloth, pictorially decorated in black, brown and white on the upper cover, lettered in white on spine. viii, 153. A very good copy in original cloth, spine mellowed, white lettering to spine faded, light rubbing to the extremities.
Edizione: twain’s adventure through the west told from the viewpoint of buffalo bill’s horse. one might call it black beauty with an attitude. he wrote the story to protest bull fighting at the request of actress minnie maddern fiske who was campaigning to end the sport in spain.
