Sir Reginald Spence, prominent merchant, philanthropist and educationalist, spent much of his career in India. He was a prominent wine merchant (Master of the Worshipful Company of Distillers 1949-1950) and an eminent freemason (District Grand Master of Bombay and Northern India); the Reginald Spence Lodge was founded in his memory.
