Spine rich gilt with four raised, gilt-rolled bands and two black morocco labels with gilt title. Boards with gilt-rolled floral borders; front board with additional title. Marbled endpapers. Original front wrapper bound in. = A sumptiously bound copy of the first edition of this extensive and detailed Portuguese flora which includes identification tables down to each species then known from that country. António Xavier Pereira Coutinho (1851-1939) ". was a Portuguese botanist and agronomist. He published two editions of The Flora of Portugal, and is the scientific authority for a hundred plant taxa, across many families" (Wikipedia). Some annotations in pencil, mainly on the first rear blank recto; original wrappers stained and a bit chipped, the near contemporary luxury binding with light shelfwear to the edges only.
