Albumen carte-de-visite photograph (1870s) of the Austrian statesman, Interior Minister of the Austrian Empire from 1860 to 1865. Von Schmerling is depicted in full-figure standing, leaning his right elbow on a pedestal. The index finger is gloved. Photographed in the studio of Ludwig Angerer (1827-1879), the first photographic studio in Vienna opened in 1858. Marked on the back “L. Angerer”.
